Renaissance Flutes

My Renaissance flutes are based on a collection of Renaissance woodwind instruments in the Accademia Filarmonica in Verona. Most of the tenor and bass flutes in this collection that bear a trefoil mark —and that may be attributable to the Rauch family of Bavaria — play at about pitch A=408 Hz and I do make them at this pitch. My 440 and 415 Hz flutes are smaller versions of the A=408 Hz originals.

I also make two Renaissance flutes that are based on flutes produced in the Lyon workshop of the Rafi family during the 16th century. These flutes play at a very low pitch, around A=368 Hz.
